Support Communities in Schools of Nassau County, Florida by participating in the Beach Fun Run at Peter's Point beach park on Amelia Island, Florida. Or sponsor a local school student.
Enjoy Amelia Island’s beautiful Peter’s Point Beach Park at low tide and get some exercise by coming to the beach on Saturday October 17, 2009 at 4 pm. The “Back to School Beach Fun Run 2009” is a 5K (3.1 mile), 2K (1 mile) or non-competitive walk with all proceeds benefiting local Nassau County, Florida school kids.
If you cannot attend, you can still help by sponsoring a local student for $10 (or make a donation to Communities in Schools of Nassau County, Inc, a non-profit community-based organization, dedicated to helping kids succeed in school, graduate, and prepare for a productive life).
The race/walk will be right on the beach at low tide starting promptly at 4 pm, so why not take this opportunity to enjoy the Amelia Island seaside while helping to support local Nassau County kids?
The school with the largest number registered participants gets $1,000, so turn out for an individual school within the Nassau County public school district. (For example, if you have a student at Fernandina Beach Middle School, participate in this event to help FBMS win this $1,000 check.)
Miles and turnaround points will be clearly marked and a water station will be provided at the halfway point and the finish line.
