The concert will be held at the new church facility, First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach, at 1600 8th Street, on Saturday evening, March 28, 2009 at 7 pm. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door.  Enjoy an evening of music and help support young student musicians, with performances also by the concert level band, jazz band and solo ensembles. MORE ABOUT THE FERNANDINA MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND PROGRAM

There are three Fernandina Beach Middle School band groups --  the beginner band, the concert band, and the highest level, symphonic.  Randy Hamm is the middle school's dedicated band director, who is devoted to music and the kids. Some parents of band students also donate their time, volunteering to help out with the band program.  The symphonic band takes an annual trip for a national competiton.  Last year's trip was to Williamsburg, Virginia where they won the "Grand National Champions" prize for the middle school division.

Mr. Hamm encourages the love of music, prepares the students for several concerts (fall, holiday, pop and spring) held at the Fernandina Beach Middle School, as well as various band competitions. The symphonic band also plays at some of the school's pep rallies and football games.

"A" Rated for 8 Years, Fernandina Beach Middle School
The Fernandina Beach Middle School is one of the highest performing public middle schools in Florida, having earned an "A" rating from the Florida Department of Education for eight years in a row.  Only a handful of middle schools in Florida have achieved such merits.

Of course, these Fernandina middle schoolers will have the opportunity to continue their musical education when they go to high school.  The Fernandina Beach High School also offers an excellent band program.

Please help support these young student musicians and enjoy the concert, Symphony By The Sea...
