AMELIA ISLAND CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL NEWS -- The Southeast Tourism Society has listed the AICMF as one of the "Top 20 Events" in the southeastern United States for June! Upcoming JUNE CONCERTS ARE 5/30/04 to 6/20/04. . .

THE AMELIA ISLAND CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL

In June, adding to the allure of Amelia Island (known for its luxury resorts, quaint B&B inns, fabulous golf courses, lovely beaches and a charming historic district), is a truly amazing music festival not to be missed!

This year, scheduled from May 30 through June 20, 2004, the third annual celebration of timeless chamber music attracts world-renowned artists to the Victorian-era seaport of Fernandina Beach. The next pre-season concert is March 29, 2004, to be held at the Amelia Island Plantation (see details below). "Viola," the 2004 Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival poster, by artist Carol Winner, is pictured above.

Amelia Island residents and tourists are treated to three delightful weeks in June, where music literally spills onto the historic district streets of Fernandina Beach with intimate concerts in unique, historic venues such as Fort Clinch, the historic courthouse, and the Palace Saloon.

The Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival is a remarkable opportunity to enjoy the performances of world-renowned musicians during an event that has put Amelia Island on the map as host to one of the country's top chamber music festivals.

"Viola," the 2004 Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival poster image, was recently unveiled at a pre-season February concert on Amelia Island. Artist Carol Winner, in her whimsical pastel drawing, has captured in "Viola" the essence of Amelia Island and the Festival. Finding inspiration in Boticelli's The Birth of Venus, Winner added island charm, the colors of ocean waves and sunsets, a designer gown and a mermaid's tail. "Viola," or Venus in Italian, was chosen from over seventy entries to represent the festival in 2004.

The next pre-season concert will be March 29, "Such Good Friends" to be held at the Ocean Club at The Amelia Island Plantation. The elegant evening will begin at 6:00 PM with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres followed by dinner, dessert and coffee. The concert will feature the music of Mendelssohn, Brahms, and Robert and Clara Schumann. Guest artists will be Ruth Laredo, Beth Newdome and Christopher Rex, AICMF Artistic Director. Tickets cost $150. Tables for ten can be reserved. Please call 904-261-1779 for reservations or visit the new Chamber Music Festival office at 910 S. 8th Street in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
